Doris A. Skaggs - October 9, 2003

Doris A. Skaggs, 78, a resident of Heritage Manor, Minonk, and formerly of 906 W. Fourth St., died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 9, 2003) at the nursing home.

Her memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Calvert & Froelich Memorial Home, Minonk Chapel, with the Rev. Daniel Gansch-Boythe officiating. Inurnment will follow in Minonk Township Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

She was born March 2, 1925, in Panola Township, the daughter of Wilbur and Minnie Sakes Ioerger. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married Donald Skaggs in Pontiac. He survives.

Also surviving are a son, David (Susan) Skaggs, Minonk; and two daughters; Carolyn (Robert) McMullen, Estle Springs, Tenn.; and Dona (Gary) Robbins, Minonk. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Mrs. Skaggs was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

She was employed for many years as a cashier at Fieldcrest High School.

Among the things she cared the most about were the students, the St. Louis Cardinals and mowing her lawn. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were extra special to her.
